Atlas & Pin

Privacy Policy

Effective 25 October 2026

Atlas & Pin is a geography game for iPhone. This page explains what the app collects, why, who can see it, and how you can delete it. We wrote it from what the app actually does.

The short version

Who we are

Atlas & Pin is made by Shubhranshu Kumar ("we"). For anything about your data, email support@atlasandpin.com.

What the app collects, and why

Your player name

You pick a name of 2 to 24 characters when you start. It is stored on your phone and in your iCloud save. If you sign in, it is also stored on our server and shown on the public leaderboard next to your points. It also appears on share cards you choose to share.

Your progress

Stamps, levels, pins, achievements, streaks, and settings are saved on your phone. A copy is kept in your own iCloud account using Apple's iCloud key-value storage, so your progress follows your Apple ID to a new phone. That copy lives in your iCloud; we cannot read it.

Signing in (optional)

Signing in lets your score appear on the leaderboard and lets referral codes work. You can sign in with:

When you are signed in, our server keeps:

Play summaries

To understand how the game is played and what to fix, the app keeps a short log of play events on your phone, for 14 days: for example rounds started and finished, the map area and score band of a round, hints opened and bought, time spent on a screen, shop visits, and the hour of the day. The log never includes your name, email, or any location.

If you are signed in, about once a day the phone turns that log into a few counts per day and sends those counts to our server, linked to your account. If you play as a guest, nothing from this log leaves your phone.

Purchases

Pin packs, Bigger Pouch, Speed Boost and the Explorer Pack are sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment and we never receive your card or payment details. The app receives a record of what you bought, signed by Apple, so it can add your pins, pouch space, boost days or Explorer Pack. We keep that record (the product, when you bought it, its price and your App Store country) with your account on our server, so your Speed Boost days can come back on a new phone and so we can check a purchase if you contact us. It is deleted when you delete your account. Bigger Pouch and the Explorer Pack belong to your Apple ID and can be restored with Restore purchases.

Rewarded ads (Google AdMob)

Ads only appear when you choose Watch an ad in the shop to earn a pin. They are served by Google AdMob. When an ad loads, Google receives information from your device such as its model and operating system, your IP address (from which Google can estimate a rough location), the app, and how you interacted with the ad. Google uses this to show the ad, count views and rewards, prevent fraud, and, where you allow it, personalize ads.

Reminders

If you turn on reminders, the app schedules notifications on your phone (for example when your free pins are waiting). They are created on the device; we do not run a push notification server and do not collect a push token.

Share cards and photos

When you share a result, the app makes an image and passes it to the share sheet or the app you pick. If you save a card, the app asks for permission only to add a photo to your library. It cannot see your photos.

Daily Challenge

When you finish a Daily Challenge, the app sends that day's score to our server to work out your rank among the players who took it ("12th out of 340"). If you are signed in, the score is kept with your account. Other players never see your Daily Challenge score.

Downloads from our server

The app downloads small updates to its wording, the leaderboard, and each day's Daily Challenge questions. Like any internet request, these reach our server provider with your IP address and basic device information; we do not use them to identify you.

On-device Apple Intelligence

On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, some companion lines may be written by Apple's on-device model from your own game results. This runs on your phone. Nothing is sent to us or to Apple for it.

What the app does not collect

Your device location, contacts, camera, microphone, health data, or browsing history. The places you guess on the map are part of the game and are not stored as a location history.

Who can see your data

We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers.

How long we keep it

Account data, leaderboard rows, Daily Challenge scores, referral code records, and play summaries are kept while you have an account and are deleted when you delete it. The play log on your phone keeps 14 days. Your iCloud save stays in your iCloud until the app removes it or you do.

Deleting your data

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, download, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict some uses, and to withdraw consent. To use any of these, email us. We will answer within 30 days. You can also change your ad choices with Privacy choices in the shop.

If you are in the EEA or UK, we rely on these legal bases: providing the game you asked for (account, leaderboard, saves, purchases); our legitimate interest in keeping the game working and improving it (play summaries, security); and your consent where required (personalized ads through Google's consent form). You may complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Atlas & Pin is a general audience game. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you think a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.

Security and where data is stored

Data travels over encrypted connections. Our server provider may store and process data in countries other than yours, including the United States, with safeguards required by law.

Changes

If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and its date before the change ships.
